School Food Project Launch
School Food Project Launch
Five big national charities have joined forces to create the School Food Project, and we were really excited to go to the launch on April 13th in London and hear how it was going to take shape.
We heard from the charities themselves, and ministers, as they announced a period of consultation around the new food standards that will be in place in schools and colleges from September 2026. It was good to hear what is planned from the ministers who listened to all of the Jamie Oliver award winners back in October.
It was a chance to hear from each of the charities on how they can support schools, and an opportunity to network and hear about the great things that are happening in schools around the country.
We fully support Jamie Oliver's take on the consultation, and his view on what school dinners should look like, and we're aspiring for the food that ASSET Nourish delivers to look a lot like his proposals.
We are really interested in what is published in terms of guidance for schools in September, and we've been inspired to host an event for other schools and trusts in Suffolk. It's not easy to transform school meals from safe and narrow to uncompromising healthy offers that form the foundations for life, but we've met some inspiring people and organisations on the journey, and we're looking forward to bringing them under one roof in Suffolk in September.
