A visit from Joe Swash
A visit from Joe Swash
On 4th March '25 ASSET Arrows Jack, Ellie and Anir hosted Joe Swash at The Oaks Primary.
He was visiting to catch up with the Arrows and the progress we were making since they won the Jamie Oliver Good School Food Awards last year. Joe is himself one of the celebrity judges for the awards.
Chef Jon and The Oaks kitchen team cooked up some "Try It Tuesday" menu items and Jack, Ellie and Anir explained the initiatives that the schools have been implementing since the Arrows won their Award. Joe also admired the recipe book - and even signed a copy for The Oaks and Ringshall! The visit was topped off by a visit to the allotments in the Oaks school field, and to hear their plans for growing fruit and veg.
Joe said: "It was such an honour to meet the brilliant Ellie, Anir and Jack, just some of the young people from the ASSET Arrows that won last year's School Food Leader Award in Jamie Oliver's Good School Food Awards."Â
"These kids are promoting, growing and eating great food, have written their own recipe book and loads more. I was really inspired by them and now I'm even more excited to help choose this year's winners. As a dad, I know how important tasty, nutritious food is in helping kids be their best at school and in life."
We were incredibly proud to show how hard we have been working on school food since the Arrows led the way on the Food Project last year. What an exciting visit!
